"Salem in One Accord" Worship and

Prayer Service Attended by 120 Believers.

Salem, Massachusetts.  A dynamic worship and prayer meeting, held (fittingly) two days before Pentecost Sunday, was lead by Pastors of the city of Salem, Friday evening, May 17.

The meeting was held in the church building shared by two congregations: Ministerios Conquista, Pastor Odalis and Nuvia Chanlatte and Christian Renewal Church, Pastor Scott and Dorrie Smith.

The event, called "Salem in One Accord" Worship and Prayer Service, was conceived in prayer by the pastors of the Salem Pastors Prayer Group, a group that meets weekly.

During the meeting, pastors and laity alike voiced agreement in the belief that God has an important destiny for the City of Peace and His Church in Salem. Many were surprised and encouraged when the attendance count was taken and the number present turned out to match the number who had continued in prayer in Jerusalem at Pentecost nearly 2000 years ago. (See  Acts 1:15.)

One by one, the pastors spoke from their hearts about what they believe God is doing in our city and our churches. Joyful shouts rose from the combined assembly from time-to-time, as it was becoming apparent to many in the audience that God has called these pastors to Salem and made

them strong in His power for such a time as this (Esther 4:14).   Many began spontaneously praying, giving thanks for each pastor, their church and for the love and unity exemplified by the Salem Pastors Prayer Group.

Powerful interludes of worship were led by the Ministerios Conquista Praise and Worship Team and Dancers who set a wonderful tone of praise and reverence for God from the very beginning of the meeting and continuing through the entire evening.

A strategy based on the restoration of the fallen tabernacle of David

(Amos 9:11)  began to unfold as several pastors spoke about the importance of churches being a "house of prayer." (See Isaiah 56:7   Matthew 21:13

Mark 11:17   Luke 19:46.)   Intercessors were encouraged to pray for the city and for a powerful revival that would bless thousands with the love of God in salvation through Christ.

Following the meeting, there was much excited discussion and warm embraces as new friendships were established and old ones renewed. Many came away believing something spiritually significant is taking place and that God is causing a transformation in Salem that will make the City of Peace a source of inspiration for revival in New England and America that will influence many parts of the world.  ahs 5/18/02
