Revival Meetings Held at Harvard University

Cambridge.  April 11.  About 400 gathered at Harvard University Memorial Church to hear Dr. Tony Campolo, professor emeritus of Sociology at Eastern University in St. Davids, Pennsylvania and founder of the Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education (EAPE).

Dr. Campolo and his wife, Peggy (Davidson) Campolo, came to Harvard at the invitation of Harvard Chaplain, Rev. Peter Gomes.  During their week long visit, the Campolos addressed various audiences at the University and held morning services at Memorial Chapel.  Sometimes people came forward to dedicate their lives to Jesus, acknowledging Him as Lord and Savior.  Other times attendees were asked if they would like to come forward for prayer. Edson Porto, Director of The Joshua Project and a key leader within the recent Harvard prayer thrust, said, "10-30 people at a time would come forward to accept the Lord at some of the meetings."

Prior to Campolos' visit, there was an all-night prayer meeting at Harvard, including a special prayer walk around MIT to pray against the spirit of suicide.  According to Porto, "There was a powerful level of prayer warfare that night which cleared the spiritual atmosphere of Harvard."  This week with Tony Campolo reflects the prayers of that night and are in keeping with the ongoing efforts of the Joshua Project which meets at Harvard every Saturday evening to pray for a great revival at Harvard that would spread far and wide, bringing an exciting new life in Christ to multitudes around the world.
